Advantages and Disadvantages of E- learning

E –learning refers to the application of information and communication expertise to facilitate access to online educational materials. Arkorful & Nelly (2014) identified various advantages and disadvantages to an organization that adopts e- learning.

The advantages of e-learning include plasticity in terms of time and place of accessibility and delivery of learning materials, enhancing value of knowledge, accessing vast amount of information, compensate for scarcity of training staff and facilitators as learners access the information online and reducing set up cost as the organization may not require physical premises for their learners to meet.

The disadvantages of e- learning includes the inability to assess the subjective aspect of learning of their scholars, lack of enough security of online learning programs thereby jeopardizing the quality, difficulty in determining the authenticity of a particular work of a learner, and lastly, the inability to administer assessments that are practical in nature.
